Home Sweet Home

My neighborhood is a middle class town. It is a good neighborhood and very safe. I believe it is not worth fighting for because I haven't lived here a while. I've moved all around New Jersey, so I can't honestly say I would fight for any where around here. I don't believe I owe it to anyone to fix my neighborhood, it is pretty safe. If anything it would probably help if I wasn't there because I'm ususally the one causing havoc. I like the neighborhood i live in but i don't believe it is worth fighting for.

Odysseus' Leadership: Good or Bad?

I believe Odysseus is a good leader. Without Odysseus, his men would have died a while ago on their journey. For instance, without Odysseus' help his men would have all been eaten and killed by the cyclops. Odysseus is the one that helped them win the Trojan war and also saved his men a number a times. Of course he made a few mistakes by not being completely honest to his men but he is the leader and his men should have just listened to what he said. If they would have they would have all made it home alive and safe. Odysseus' men sealed there own fate by not listening to him. He specifically told his men not to kill Helios's cattle and what did they do? They ended up killing the cattle. Moments after, the storm went away and they were able to sail away. If Odysseus' men could have waited a little longer they might have been able to live to tell about the journey home and also could have been able to help Odysseus with his troubles at home. In my opinion Odysseus was a great leader because he was a warrior and intelligent. His men sealed there own fate by not following directions.

Hermes: The Great Messenger God

Hermes is the great messenger god. Hermes is the son of Zeus. His mother was Maia. He was the god of shepherds, travellers, merchants, and even thieves, and he also had the role of the messenger of the gods. His Roman name was Mercury. Greek god Hermes' attributes are a winged traveler's cap, the caduceus with the two intertwined serpents and the winged sandals. He was represented as an athletic young man.

My opinion about Hermes is that he played a very imprortant role of the gods. He delievered the messages for Zeus and the rest of the gods. I picked Hermes because of how important of a role he played in ancient greek times.

Odysseus' encounter with Aeolus

Odysseus encounters the God of winds Aeoulus while on his trip back home. When he encounters Aeoulus, the god of winds decides to help him along his journey by giving him a gift. Aeoulus presents him with a bag of winds. He gives him all of the winds bagged up except the westerly winds that way when he sails home he will sail in a straight line rather then in a zig zag. Odysseus and his men start to sail home and they get so close that they can see the island, but one of Odysseus' men open the bag because curiousity gets the best of them releasing the winds. The winds gets released and blows them all the way to Circe's island. I believe this happened not because of Odysseus or his men, but because thats the way the author intended it to be so it would be a better storyline. If i had to put blame on someone i would say it is Odysseus's fault because he was not completely honest with his men. If he would have been honest the whole thing would have been avoided.
